The NHL announced the finalists for the 2014-15 Selke Trophy, which is awarded annually to the best defensive forwards in the league. It is a familiar trio of names as all of them were finalists a year ago. center , center and center are the finalists once again, making it the consecutive year that both Toews and Bergeron have made the top-three.Bergeron has won the Selke in two of the past three seasons and like the other two finalists is one of the best all-around players in the Jeff Lindgren Jersey NHL. He finished the season fourth among all forwards (minimum 1,000 minutes of ice-time) when it comes to driving po se sion, was one of the Bruins top penalty killers and was consistently called on by coach Claude Julien to start his shifts in the defensive end of the ice. Even with those difficult a signments, he was still able to help his team control the pace of the game and finished with 55 points.Like Bergeron, Toews posts impre sive underlying numbers and is an exceptional defensive player that is used in all situations, including for defensive zone draws (though, not quite as often as Bergeron, simply because the Blackhawks were a better team and spent more time in the offensive zone). Toews won the award during the 2012-13 season. Kopitar might be the most underrated star player in the league, which is still incredible when you consider he has been the best player on a team that has won two of the past three Stanley Cups. But he still doesn't seem to get the recognition he deserves for his all-around play. He is looking to end a three-year run that has seen either Bergeron or Toews win the award.
