The concept involves using AR-enabled smart glasses or smartphone apps to overlay digital information directly onto the rescuer's real-world view. A field team member could look at a mountainside and see their assigned search sector highlighted, see the virtual "breadcrumb trail" of where they have already been, or see icons indicating the last known position of other teams. Navigational cues, hazard warnings, and critical information about the missing person could appear in their line of sight, allowing them to maintain situational awareness while keeping their hands free to navigate difficult terrain or operate equipment.
