Gameplay Frustration in Red Dead Online

I’m far from the most hardcore player in Red Dead Online—while legends like Buffalo Bill supposedly took down thousands of bison, I’ve barely managed to kill a handful, and felt guilty about it too. My routine usually involves logging in a few times a week for short sessions, just enough to check in on my moonshine operation, hunt some deer and hogs for my trader role, dig up a bit of buried treasure with my metal detector, or engage in playful scuffles with other players that mostly end with hats flying off.

Despite these brief playtimes, my experience is frequently interrupted by persistent bugs and glitches. It’s common for the game to freeze on an endless loading screen when starting certain story missions or moonshine deliveries. At other times, the connection to the server drops without warning. There are moments when everything simply stops working—I find myself unable to draw my weapon, interact with camp workbenches, mount my horse, or even continue a friendly fight by punching off someone’s hat.

On average, I find myself forced to restart Red Dead Online roughly once every hour because of these issues. While I genuinely enjoy the game, the constant interruptions are becoming increasingly frustrating.

My evening escapes into the wild west are increasingly defined by technical chaos.

What should be a reliable homestead, my camp, is a fickle phantom.

It flickers in and out of existence, leaving me with a lone fire or an infinite loading screen.

This central hub for crafting and commerce has become my primary source of aggravation.

The instability spreads far beyond the campfire.

Collector's maps send me on wild goose chases across the state, with treasures teleporting as I ride.

My horse occasionally freezes, becoming a stubborn statue I must abandon and recall.

Even entering my own moonshine shack can reveal a ghost town, absent of staff and patrons.

A restart often provides a temporary reprieve, but the cycle is exhausting.

These constant interruptions shatter the immersion of my short, cherished play sessions.

The frustration accumulates, making each subsequent glitch feel more significant than the last.

I understand development is complex and fixes take time.

Yet, the cumulative effect is a steady erosion of enjoyment.

The game I log into to unwind is increasingly the very thing that frays my nerves.

Without meaningful improvement, my days as a frontier adventurer may be numbered.
