Director Elissa Down, known for her work on The Honor List, helms this exciting new project, bringing her unique vision to the screen.

Produced by Susan Cartsonis, whose credits include Deidra and Laney Rob a Train, The Duff, Aquamarine, and What Women Want, under the banner of Resonate Entertainment.

Supporting her is associate producer Clément Bauer, also representing Resonate Entertainment, contributing to the film’s development.

The project’s executive producers include Brent Emery, notable for Carrie Pilby and The Road Within, Suzanne Farwell, known for The Intern and The Holiday, both representing Resonate, along with Aaron Barnett, recognized for In the Shadow of the Moon.

The screenplay is crafted by talented writers Michael Armbruster, whose works include Beautiful Boy and End of Sentence, and Shawn Ku, also associated with Beautiful Boy and A Score to Settle.

Starring Sofia Carson, acclaimed for her roles in the Descendants trilogy and Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists, the cast features Wolfgang Novogratz from Sierra Burgess Is a Loser and The Half of It, Donna Lynne Champlin from Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, and Enrico Colantoni of Veronica Mars and A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood.

Lidya Jewett, known for Good Girls and Hidden Figures, joins the ensemble, along with Eva Hauge, Johanna Colón from Troupe Zero, Sadie Lapidus, Shiloh Nelson of Tomorrowland, Shaylee Mansfield from Noelle, and other talented actors including Justin Allan, Kai Zen, Carina Battrick, Brandon Kyle Goodman, Ken Pak, Dennis Andres, and Amy Stewart.

Choreography is led by Mia Michaels, an Emmy Award-winning choreographer renowned for her work on So You Think You Can Dance, Rock of Ages, and Step Up.

The story follows April, played by Sofia Carson, who, after an unsuccessful stint on Broadway, returns to her small hometown and is unexpectedly tasked with training a misfit group of young dancers for a major competition.

The film, titled Feel the Beat, is part of Netflix’s expanding lineup of live-action family films featuring children and teens. It joins titles like the 2019 comedy Tall Girl, directed by Nzingha Stewart, produced by Wonderland; the 2020 film The Main Event, directed by Jay Karas, produced with WWE Studios; A Babysitter’s Guide to Monster Hunting, directed by Rachel Talalay; and Hello, Universe, based on Erin Entrada Kelly’s award-winning novel, produced by Significant Productions.

Principal photography commenced on July 25th in Toronto, Canada, bringing the creative team’s vision to life on location.
