Getting extra packs in Pokémon TCG Pocket is partly about patience and partly about knowing where the game hides its free currency. You don't need to burn through everything on day one. Start with missions and solo battles

After that, jump into Solo mode and work through the Battle Guides. The early guides teach the basics, while the later ones hand out useful items and even rental deck options. Spend shop tickets in the right order

Once you've got shop tickets, check the shop before opening more packs with your saved resources. The monthly refreshed hourglass deals should usually come first, since they disappear and offer a reliable way to turn tickets into more openings. After that, the one-time deals are fine to pick up when you can. Pack Hourglasses are the main prize if your goal is booster packs, while Wonder Hourglasses are better when you're trying to target a missing card through Wonder Pick. Also, claim the daily shop gift. It's easy to forget, and yes, everyone forgets it at least once.

Know when to move on from a pack

There's a point where opening the same pack starts to feel worse. If you already have two copies of several big chase cards, the odds of getting something truly useful drop. Duplicates can still become shinedust or flair, but that's not usually what you're chasing. At that stage, use Wonder Pick to fill gaps, especially for Pokémon ex cards, since they're often the best value. Pack Points should be saved for stubborn missing cards or cards you need right now to finish a deck. Level-ups and daily missions also matter: daily missions give Pack Hourglasses, and levelling gives more hourglasses plus Poké Gold over time.

Save resources when your deck is ready

It's tempting to open every pack the moment you can, but you don't have to. If your main decks are working, hold your Pack Hourglasses and Poké Gold for later sets or stronger targets. The free daily packs will keep adding cards anyway, and Premium players get even more breathing room.
